Profile pic: This is me with Peter Max. I met him when I visited his gallery in Fort Worth.
Story:My boyfriend and I went to Fort Worth (a 30 min drive for me) to see his Gallery on a Friday night. At the Gallery he was selling his work. The cheapest I saw was $6,750! It took me a while to wait for the perfect moment to have small talk with him. Finally he sat on the couch and the man that was talking to him left him for a moment. I went up to him.
Me: I'm assuming you're Peter Max?
PM: You assume right.
Me: Hello, My name is Sarah.
PM: My mother's name is Sarah.
Me: Haha! Yes it is a beautiful name.... One of the things that I wanted to ask you is what your inspirations were, but as I see here (I pointed to some pictures in the back that referenced other artist.) that you like Monet, and Van Gogh. (He even did his version of Starry Night.)
PM: (Takes my hand.) What I'm inspired by... is the colors. You know when your walking down the street and you have a song in your head. You're just inspired by that song.
Me: Wow! Yes, I do see that. Especially to the leaves in the trees (I'm pointing to a particular panting.) You just dab on your palette and you're okay if the colors kinda get mixed in. I see it, I like it.
Then I asked if I could get my picture with him, he said it was okay. Before I left I reached out my hand to shake it and he slapped it like a low-five. He was so mellow and cool and awesome.
Excuse me while I gain confidence in my art.
